I was loving this article until I found this section replete with factual inaccuracies.
Rastafarianism is not a lifestyle if you are talking about the origin. It is a religious, spiritual and political movement. If you had consulted the myriad of books written on the subject and not wiki your misrepresentation would not be akin to a white wash.
Rastafarianism originated in Jamaica. You see the difference in the weight of the language? Words matter and the language you have chosen or edits weaken the significance of this. Rastafarianism Is the only religious system that developed outside of Africa since we were taken from there that does not worship a white God and reforms a colonising religion into the image of its worshipers.
Indian Hindus contributed to Ital livity, but to say that that they wholly inspired it is wrong. Most African Jamaicans living in rural areas where Rasta livity originated hardly ate products derived from animals for a number of reasons so the transition linked to a religious belief system made the transition easier.
Where did you source this information from? Why is there no link to it? Indians in the Caribbean were bonded men and women and worked in horrific conditions on plantations as indentured servants or labourers. There are are books written about this, published in the Caribbean, U.K., Canada and the U.S. and India!
I am a Jamaican of Indian and African descent who is a Rasta minded and supports ital livity. If you are going to write about people like me. Take much better care and source your material.
